Brazilian datacenter and infrastructure services provider Ascenty is already planning to open its fourth datacenter in Ceará state capital Fortaleza in 2014, despite not yet having finished its third, company CEO Christopher Torto revealed during a telecoms conference in São Paulo this Wednesday (Sep 25).

Fortaleza’s strategic location, on the coast of northeastern Brazil, together with the company’s strategy to expand its footprint beyond São Paulo state, are what drove the choice of city.

Torto recalled that Fortaleza is the landing point of at least five international submarine cables. “Although our main focus is São Paulo and the telecoms vertical, we needed to have a hub in the northeast of Brazil,” said Torto.
