Where did you grow up?
This is a bit of a tricky question as I lived in five states during the first 12 years of my life. My father was an Army Ranger and eventually had a career at Ford Motor Company. Both jobs required us to relocate and I spent time in Kansas, Washington, Michigan, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. I consider my childhood mainly in Kansas as I spent five years there growing up. We eventually landed in Massachusetts, where I still call home. All of that traveling early in life definitely makes you adaptable to many different situations. It also made me want to have a job where I could travel often to be able to see new places and cultures.
What do you do in your spare time?
I spend time with my family - my wife, Maggie, and twin daughters, Sloane and Everly. We visit Maine as much as possible as it holds a special place in our lives. Maggie and I met at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maggie grew up in the Mid-Coast area of the state (Jefferson), and we got married in Southport. While we are up there, we enjoy cycling, skiing, hiking, kayaking, and golfing.
What was your first job?
My first job was at Ideal Concrete, a manufacturer of concrete and brick pavers. I needed money for college so worked long hours in the yard as well as the manufacturing floor doing pretty much anything I was told. I learned a lot of lessons that summer about the value of money, time, and hard work.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Focus on all the small details and the big milestones will take care of themselves.
