Seasoned executive brings deep experience in software, technology, and professional services industries
Great Hill Partners, a private equity firm that invests in high-growth, disruptive companies, today announced that Phil Galati has joined the firm as a Growth Partner. In this role, Galati will work closely with Great Hill’s investment team to explore new investment opportunities and portfolio company management teams to help design and execute their growth strategies.
Galati has over 30 years of experience leading companies in the software, technology, and professional services industries. This strategic hire builds on Great Hill’s meaningful investments in its Growth Team over the past year, including the promotion of Mike Thompson to the newly created role of Head of Growth Team, and the addition of experienced leaders in healthcare and people development.
“Phil’s exceptional track record scaling technology-driven businesses, particularly in financial services, tech-enabled services, and software, will bring valuable and differentiated perspective to our Growth Team,” said Mike Thompson, Managing Director, Head of Growth Team. “His proven ability to design, develop, and oversee strategic growth initiatives will be a significant asset to our investment professionals and portfolio companies alike. We are delighted to welcome Phil to the team and are confident his expertise will help unlock new avenues of growth and innovation across our portfolio.”
“Joining Great Hill’s Growth Team presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate with visionary entrepreneurs and talented operators,” said Galati. “I’m energized by the firm’s deep commitment to supporting companies at every stage of growth, and I look forward to working closely with management teams to drive strategic transformation and create enduring value.”
Galati most recently served as President and CEO of Accelerate Learning, Inc., the leader in STEM curriculum for PreK-12 and the developer of the award-winning STEMscopes. Over 9 million students and 750,000 teachers use the Accelerate Learning curriculum across all 50 states. During his tenure, the company doubled revenue, significantly improved profitability, launched several new products, and transformed into a leading ‘digital first’ curriculum provider. Galati previously served as CEO of Energy Services Group (ESG), a provider of back-office, billing, and data management SaaS solutions for the energy industry. Under his leadership, ESG grew into an international technology leader serving millions of consumers in North America, Europe, and Japan. Prior to that, Galati served as CEO of Trillium Software, a data quality software solution, where he drove the company’s shift to a high-growth cloud model. He has also held senior roles at Sterling Commerce, Dell, IBM, and Ernst & Young.
Great Hill’s Growth Team operates as a comprehensive program, providing portfolio companies with access to strategic guidance, operational support, and the firm’s extensive network. Comprised of seasoned leaders with decades of experience scaling high-growth companies, as well as functional experts with deep domain expertise, the Growth Team partners closely with management teams to drive priority growth vectors such as strategy, go-to-market, marketing, pricing, product, technology, AI, and talent.
