Supporting Breeders to Improve the Health and Well-being of Dogs
LOS ANGELES, CA – PuppySpot.com, a service connecting dog lovers with responsible breeders nationwide, today announced a national series of health clinics to further enhance the health and well-being of the puppies raised by its network of breeders. PuppySpot is working with the American Kennel Club (AKC) to execute this program, providing important health screenings for breeding dogs.
The first PuppySpot health clinic was held in Lebanon, MO on June 20. Additional clinics are being planned for the remainder of 2017. The free health examinations include hip, elbow, cardiac, dental and patellar checks. Additional services will be offered at some health clinics as well, including Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) certification. Participating breeders will also have an opportunity to speak with representatives from both PuppySpot and AKC for more information about placing their puppies in happy homes and registering their dogs with the AKC.
PuppySpot's carefully screened and vetted breeder partners are required to go above and beyond industry standards, which includes obtaining comprehensive health evaluations for every puppy they place through PuppySpot and keeping their puppies up-to-date on all vaccinations and de-wormings. Every puppy must pass a thorough health check before PuppySpot will clear a puppy to travel to its forever home. As a final check and to activate PuppySpot's industry-leading Health Guarantee, PuppySpot also mandates its customers take their puppy to a licensed veterinarian within 48 hours of receiving their puppy.
"We are thrilled to partner with AKC on this unique and important initiative," said Greg Liberman, Chief Executive Officer of PuppySpot. "The health of the puppies we place is our number one priority, so we're proud to offer this additional service and assist our breeder community in providing the highest-quality veterinary service to the animals in their care."
"As part of AKC's 130-plus years commitment to advance the health and well-being of all dogs, we are committed to improving breeder education and breeder access to canine health screenings," said David Roberts, AKC's Breeder Development Executive. "We appreciate PuppySpot inviting us to work with them to make these health clinics possible."
