Rafael is responsible for originating and evaluating investment opportunities in the Internet, software, health care, and business and consumer services sectors. Rafael serves on the board of directors of Vatica Health, PartsSource, Qualifacts, Quantum Health and RxBenefits. He is a former Director of DealerRater and was also involved in the firm’s investments in Passport Health and Wayfair.
Prior to joining Great Hill Partners, Rafael was a principal at Battery Ventures, where he was involved in investments in the Internet, software and business services sectors and was responsible for originating and executing investment opportunities as well as assuming board of director responsibilities at portfolio companies. While at Battery, Rafael was involved in investments with ExactTarget, Internet Brands, Sprinklr, and Wayfair. Prior to Battery, Rafael spent a number of years with Technology Crossover Ventures, where he focused on growth, recapitalizations and buyout investments in the technology and financial services sectors. He also held positions with Goldman Sachs and RBC Capital Markets. At Goldman Sachs, he was involved in structuring, underwriting and marketing leveraged buyout transactions in the gaming, real estate, media and technology industries. During his tenure at RBC Capital Markets, he provided merger and acquisition, capital raising and advisory services for corporate clients focused on the technology sector.
Rafael earned a degree in finance from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
